Distributed Information Systems Group
Our group is pursuing research on synthetic and natural distributed information systems.
Current focus areas include network information systems (the synthetic part) and the development
of abstractions for the analysis and design of biological regulatory networks (the natural part).
Research in the lab is supported by the Caltech
Lee Center for Advanced Networking,
the
National Science Foundation
and the Alpha Project (an NIH Center of Excellence)
at the
Molecular Sciences Institute
in Berkeley.
Past projects in the lab include the
RAIN
(Reliable Array of Independent Nodes) project.
The RAIN technology was transferred to a spin-off company, called
Rainfinity.
Rainfinity (acquired in 2005 by EMC)
focused on software products for management of network information systems.
